In the iPhone and iPad app there is nothing to connect — the app shows the calendars already on your device. The steps below are for the web version.
Apple doesn't let other websites sign in with your regular Apple Account password. Instead, you create a separate app-specific password just for Ultimate Planner. It takes about two minutes, and you can revoke it at any time without changing your main password.
Before you start: your Apple Account must have two-factor authentication turned on. Most accounts already do.
Step 1. Create the app-specific password
- On any computer or phone, go to account.apple.com and sign in. If the browser offers Face ID, Touch ID or a passkey and it doesn't work, choose to sign in with a different Apple Account and type your email and password instead.
- Open Sign-In and Security, then App-Specific Passwords.
- Click Generate an app-specific password (or the + button).
- Give it a name you'll recognize, such as Ultimate Planner, and click Create. You may be asked for your Apple Account password.
- Copy the password. It looks like
abcd-efgh-ijkl-mnop. Apple shows it only once — you don't need to save it; if you lose it, just create a new one.
Step 2. Connect in Ultimate Planner
- Go to My Calendars and find the Apple Calendar card.
- In Apple ID, enter the main email address of your Apple Account — the one you sign in to Apple with (you can check it at account.apple.com). Don't use an alias.
- In App-specific password, paste the password you just created, dashes included. This is not your regular Apple password.
- Click Connect Apple Calendar and choose which calendars to show. New and changed events can take a few minutes to appear.
Disconnect or revoke access
- To stop showing a calendar account, click Disconnect on its card in My Calendars.
- To cut off Apple access completely, revoke the password at account.apple.com → Sign-In and Security → App-Specific Passwords.
Troubleshooting
- “Apple app-specific password expired”, or it worked before and stopped — you changed or reset your Apple Account password, and Apple automatically revoked all app-specific passwords. Create a new one and connect again.
- The connection fails right away — check three things: you pasted the app-specific password (not your regular Apple password), the email is your main Apple Account email (not an alias), and two-factor authentication is on.
- Still failing — click Disconnect, revoke the old password at account.apple.com, create a new one and connect again. If you use a VPN, try without it.
- I can't find App-Specific Passwords — turn on two-factor authentication first. Work and school accounts managed by an organization can't create app-specific passwords; use a personal Apple Account.
- A calendar is missing — make sure it's stored in iCloud (you'll see it at iCloud.com → Calendar). In the app, also check that the account is added to your device with calendar sync on. On the web, click Refresh in My Calendars.
- I can't edit some events — the calendar is read-only, for example one shared with you as view-only.
- “Google access expired” — click Connect Google Calendar again to renew access.
What doesn't sync on the web
Apple's web connection only reaches calendars stored in iCloud. These won't appear: calendars kept “On My iPhone”, subscribed calendars (holidays, sports schedules), Birthdays and Reminders. Google calendars that you only view in Apple Calendar should be connected through Connect Google Calendar instead.
Is this safe?
An app-specific password can't be used to sign in to your Apple Account, change its settings or make purchases. Ultimate Planner uses it only to read and update your calendars, and you can revoke it at any time at account.apple.com.
